Nathaniel West

Nathaniel West is the newest member of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Previously, he was a member of the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra, and is a recent graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music. As a “Presidential Scholar in the Arts” and finalist in the National Foundation for the Advancement in the Arts YoungArts program, Nathaniel performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC in 2009. He has also appeared on National Public Radio’s “From the Top” and soloed with both the New Albany Symphony and the Curtis Institute 20/21 ensemble. As a chamber musician, he performs regularly with the quintet Ensemble39 in Philadelphia and the Jupiter Chamber Players in New York, and spends summers at the Marlboro Music Festival in Vermont. Orchestrally, he has performed with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, East Coast Chamber Orchestra, San Antonio Symphony, National Symphony Orchestra, and the Philadelphia Orchestra. Nathaniel has also performed as guest principal with the Atlanta and Toronto Symphony Orchestras and the Festival Teatro del Lago Orchestra in Frutillar, Chile.
